Course Description

The ShawneeXP Pre-Accelerator is a free, self-paced readiness program designed for aspiring game developers, student teams, and early-stage founders who want to transform their projects into investment-ready studios. Unlike traditional accelerators, this course is open to anyone—no application required. Participants move at their own pace while gaining the knowledge, mentorship, and practical tools needed to take their first steps into the world of entrepreneurship and prepare for entry into the ShawneeXP Game Accelerator.

Through workshops, recorded talks, and hands-on project modules, participants will learn how to:

  • Validate game ideas and test audience demand early.

  • Build sustainable studio structures and business models.

  • Understand the basics of funding, publishing, and IP ownership.

  • Strengthen their pitches for investors, publishers, and accelerators.

  • Connect with mentors, industry leaders, and a supportive peer network.

The program leverages Shawnee State University’s nationally ranked Game Design program, the resources of the Kricker Innovation Hub in Portsmouth, Ohio, and the deep industry networks of ShawneeXP.
